Field experiment was conducted to evaluate effect of enriched composts on rhizosphere soil enzymatic activity of soybean in vertisols. The experiment was laid out in RBD with eight treatment replicated thrice. The enriched composts like Phosphocompost having 0.80 N, 1.65 P, 0.68 K, 0.39 S, C: N ratio of 20.44 and Nitrophospho-Sulphocompost having 1.85 N, 1.76 P, 0.92 K, 1.58 S, C: N ratio of 19.30 was used. Results indicated that the soil enzymatic activity at flowering and pod formation stage i.e Dehydrogenase (41.96 and 46.29 µ g TPF g-1 24 hr-1), Alkaline phosphatase (161.34 and 163.09 µ g p-nitrophenol g-1 24 hr-1), Aryl sulphatase (42.16 and 46.59 µ g p-nitrophenol g-1 24 hr-1) and Urease activity (55.60 and 56.86 mg NH4-N g-1 24 hr-1) was significantly highest in 100% P through Nitrophospho-sulpho compost followed by 100% P through Phospho-compost over all other treatments. Hence application of organics increases soil biological properties and yield of crop.
