A field experiment was conducted at Research Farm, Department of Agronomy; Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi VishwaVidyalaya Jabalpur during 2012 consisting of seven newly developed maize hybrids and one composite variety for yield parameters in rainfed condition. The results of present study revealed that, the yield attributing parameters viz., number of cobs/ plant, grain rows /cob, number of grain /row, total grain /cob, cob weight and seed index were found significantly highest in hybrid Proagro Ly 620 as compared to most of the hybrids. The cob length was found highest in HQPM 1. However, the cob girth was found highest in hybrid Proagro SAMPPANN. The hybrid Proagro Ly 620 produced significantly highest grain yield (65.69 q/ ha) and stover yield (152.51 q /ha) as compared to the other tested hybrids. However, the lowest grain yield (19.44 q /ha) and stover yield (53.43 q /ha) was produced by hybrid Proagro 4212. Similarly, the maximum harvest index and shelling percentage were also found in hybrid Proagro Ly 620 as compared to other hybrid. Thus, it was concluded from the study that, the hybrid Proagro Ly 620, which found superior for the most of yield attributing parameters have huge potential for raising the productivity of maize in rainfed condition of Madhya Pradesh.
