Abstract:

The study investigated the Effect of different doses of GA3 on growth, yield and quality of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) and was conducted at the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, DAV University, Jalandhar, during 2024. The experiment was laid out in a Randomised Block Design with eight treatments and replicated thrice. Treatments consisted of different levels of GA3 (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 ppm) along with a control. Among the treatment GA3 @ 80ppm proved to be most effective, recording the minimum days to 50% seed germination (5 days), maximum vine length (163.77 cm), maximum number of leaves (56.87), number of primary branches (4.50), days to first male flower (31.26 days), female flower (35.33 days), highest number of female flowers per vine (20.87) also recorded the highest number of fruits per plant (10.1), maximum fruit weight (200.60 g), fruit diameter (6.32 cm), maximum yield per vine (2.02 kg), yield per plot (17.87 kg), yield per hectare(297.77 q) and total soluble solids (4.5 °Brix). These suggest that, particularly at 80 ppm, the highest concentration evaluated in the present study can significantly enhance the growth behaviour, yield, and quality of cucumber.
