The field experiment was conducted during kharif, to study the efficacy of different herbicides on weed dynamics, growth and grain yield of transplanted rice (Oryza sativa L.). The experiment was conducted in randomised block design with three replications and ten weed management practices. The treatments were T1-Pretilachlor (50% EC) @ 0.5kg a.i./ha 2 DAT, T2-Pretilachlor (50% EC) @ 0.5kg a.i./ha 2DAT fb 2,4-D Ethyl ester (38% EC) @ 0.5kg a.i./ha 21 DAT, T3-Bispyribac sodium (10% SC) @ 0.025kg a.i./ha 21 DAT, T4-Almix (20% WP) @ 0.004kg a.i./ha 3 & 21 DAT, T5-Penoxsulam (21.7% SC) @ 0.0225kg a.i./ha 21 DAT, T6-a premix herbicide combination of Penoxsulam 1.02%W/W + Cyhalofop butyl 5.1% W/W @ 0.135kg a.i./ha 21 DAT, T7-Fenoxaprop –p-ethyl (9.3% EC) @ 0.06kg a.i./ha 21 DAT, T8-Pyrazosulfuron ethyl 10%WP @ 0.02kg a.i./ha 21 DAT, T9- 2 hand weedings at 30 & 45 DAT, T10- Weedy check. The soil of the experimental site was sandy loam in texture with pH 6.5. The test variety was “Naveen”. The result revealed that at 30 days after transplanting (DAT) weed flora comprised sedges (37.8%), broad leaf weeds (29.4%) and grasses (32.8%) and at 60 DAT the weed flora in the same order comprised 39.6, 31.0 and 29.4%, respectively. The highest grain yield (4.92 t/ha) was recorded with 2 hand weeding treatment and B:C ratio of 1.71 but in case of post-emergence application of penoxsulam + cyhalofop butyl 0.135 kg a.i./ha gives grain yield of (4.42 t/ha) and B:C ratio of 1.89 which is the best herbicide treatment.
