Abstract:

Performance of eight pomegranate cultivars for important horticultural traits was done under subtropical conditions of Jammu. The results showed significant variations on all the parameters for different cultivars. The highest plant height was recorded in cv. Kandhari, whereas maximum spread was recorded in cv. Ganesh. Maximum flowering duration was observed in Jalore and minimum days taken to fruit maturity were found in Bedana. The highest fruit yield was recorded in cv. Kandhari followed by Kabuli Kandhari. The best fruit size was recorded in cv. G-137, whereas highest number of arils per fruit was recorded in cv. Ganesh. High TSS was recorded in cv. Kandhari but total sugar content was maximum in G-137. Cultivar Kandhari had high ascorbic acid content and followed by Kabuli Kandhari. The minimum incidence of fruit cracking was recorded in cv. Kandhari and minimum attack of fruit borer was observed in cv. Dholka.
