Abstract:

The topmost portion of the earth’s surface is soil. Four letter word SOIL has also been described as the soul of infinite life. It serves as a natural support for the growth of plants that support human and animal life. Here we look at soil quality and associated concepts, in terms of definition, approaches to evaluation, selection and interpretation of indicators. Identification of the most used soil quality indicators of agricultural land use. There is a believe that the explicit assessment of soil quality in relation to soil-specific threats, soil functions and ecosystem services have rarely been implemented, and few provide clear patterns of interpretation of the values of the measured indicators.
