A field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2018 at S.V. Agricultural College, dryland farm, Tirupati to test the effect of potassium and zinc on yield and quality of greengram with eight nutrient management practices viz., Control (T1), application of Recommended Dose of Fertilizers (RDF) (20-50-0 kg N, P2O5 and K2O ha-1) (T2), soil application of 40 kg K2O ha-1 along with RDF (T3 ) 25 kg of ZnSO4 ha-1 along with RDF (T4) 40 kg K2O + 25 kg of ZnSO4 ha-1 along with RDF (T5) Foliar application of either KNO3 @ 1.0 % (T6) ZnSO4 @ 0.2 % (T7) along with RDF and KNO3 @ 1.0 % and ZnSO4 @ 0.2 % at flower bud initiation along with RDF(T8) at flower bud initiation. Potassium and zinc were applied basally in the form of Muriate of Potash, ZnSO4 and foliar application of potassium and zinc in the form of KNO3 @ 1.0 % and ZnSO4 @ 0.2 % at flower bud initiation. The highest seed yield, haulm yield and harvest index of greengram was recorded with foliar application of 1% KNO3 + 0.2% ZnSO4 at flower bud initiation stage along with RDF (T8), which was however comparable with soil application of 40 kg K2O + 25 kg of ZnSO4 ha-1 along with RDF (T5) and significantly superior over the rest of the nutrient management practices tried. Foliar application of 1% KNO3 + 0.2% ZnSO4 at flower bud initiation stage along with RDF (T8) recorded significantly higher protein and zinc content in the grain, which was however comparable with foliar application of 0.2% ZnSO4 at flower bud initiation stage along with RDF (T7) significantly superior over the rest of the nutrient management practices tried.
