Microorganisms are ancestors of all living forms and support system for all other forms of life. As a foundation of the biosphere and major determinants of human health and environment, microbes claim primary fundamental role in life.
India is facing challenges in various fields such as emergence of multidrug resistant microbial pathogens, AIDS, biological warfare, sanitation and health care, biodiversity and sustainable development, plant stress management, food quality and stability, solid and liquid waste management etc. Scientific community has taken an initiative to explore diversity of microorganisms and their potential to tackle these challenges.
This conference aims at discussing development in recent past and forthcoming promising solutions to these issues. The outcomes from this conference guided us to find microbiological solutions on these problems.
This conference brought together industry leaders, senior executives and academicians, students, scientists and government officials to understand the role of microorganisms in environment and human welfare. It exhibited new possibilities, applications and technologies in investigating role of dynamic microbes in human welfare.
The articles in the special edition of “International Journal of Current Microbiology & Applied Sciences” are full texts of the posters presented in the National conference on “Dynamic Microbes: Role in Human Welfare” organized by the Department of Microbiology, Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Shivajinagar, Pune, INDIA. Around eighty three posters were presented in the event. Out of that 36 full length papers are published in the IJCMAS journal. These articles focus mainly on the areas such as Immunology, Medical and Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology, Environmental and Agricultural Microbiology, Taxonomy and Diversity, Genetics, Cell biology and Molecular biology, Biochemistry and Physiology.
We hope that the readers and the research workers will find this as a useful source of information. We would like to thank the reviewers who helped us in reviewing the articles and timely recommendations. We also would like to thank the Chief-Editor, Dr. M Prakash, and other staff of the Editorial Section of International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences (IJCMAS), who had faith in us and cooperated at all stages of compilation. Special thanks goes to the authors who contributed their scientific work for publication in the special edition of IJCMAS.
