Abstract:

Present investigation was carried out carried out at College of Horticulture, Dr. Y.S.R Horticultural University, Venkataramannagudem, West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh during kharif, 2016-2017. The experimental material comprised of 14 cultivars of (Cucurbita moschata Duch. ex Poir) pumpkin collected from different part of India. A wide range of variability was reported in all the characters. Higher magnitude of PCV and GCV were observed for placenta weight per fruit and flesh thickness indicating the existence of wide range of genetic variability in the germplasm for these traits. High heritability (hb2) estimates coupled with high estimates of genetic advance as percent of mean were observed for the traits viz., placenta weight, vine length, number of fruits per vine, average fruit weight, fruit diameter, 100-seed weight, flesh thickness, TSS, yield per vine, and yield per hectare.

Keywords: Cucurbita moschata Duch. ex Poir, Pumpkin
