Facklamia hominis: A Rare Case of Liver Abscess

Abstract:

Facklamia species are gram positive cocci reported in1997.They are alpha haemolytic facultative anaerobes resembling streptococcus in 5% sheep blood agar. Facklamia hominis is the most common species of the six species so far described. Its natural habitat is speculated to be female genital tract, we report a case of liver abscess caused by the bacterium Facklamia hominis in a 54 year male patient who was treated successfully.
