Abstract:

Little millet is one of the most important small millet crop grown in rainfed area in India. Traditionally in tribal and hilly area, threshing of little millet crops is done by beating sticks and tractor bare operation which is more time consuming, energy intensive, labour intensive and uneconomical. The present study was carried out to find out the influence of harvesting and threshing methods on seed quality of little millet cv. CO (Samai) 4. The treatments are manual beating with pliable stick, tractor treading, and mechanical threshing with paddy thresher. Therefore the results revealed that among the threshing methods, manual beating with pliable stick, and recorded higher physiological quality of seeds.
