Abstract:

The present study documented the tree morphology, flowering and fruiting behaviour of Parameria polyneura. Biochemical profiling of fruits revealed the presence of moderate amount of crude fat (0.53%), crude fibre (1.81%), crude protein (1.92%), carbohydrate (92.41%), energy (382.10 Kcal 100g-1), total soluble sugar (5.83%), reducing sugar (3.12%), riboflavin (130.42 µg 100g-1) and thiamine (20.15 µg 100g-1). The fruits exhibited considerable antioxidant activities due to presence of ascorbic acid and phenol. Presence of macro and micro minerals such as phosphorous, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, copper and zinc signifies the nutritionally important value of the fruit.
