Abstract:

A study was conducted on emotional competence among Muslim teachers of schools. 120 married Muslim teachers in the age range of 25-60 years having a child with at least of 5 years of married life were selected purposively. Emotional competence of the school teachers was assessed by emotional competence scale (Bharadwaj and Sharma, 1995). Results revealed that majority of the male (83%) and the female (70%) teachers working in urban area were not efficient in emotional competence. Similarly, all most all the male (100%) and majority of the female (97%) teachers working in rural area were not efficient in emotional competence. The male and the female teachers were similar in their emotional competence, but, the teachers working in urban area were higher in their emotional competence compared to the teachers working in rural area.
