A 60-days feeding trial was conducted to study the combined effect of fucoidan rich seaweed extract (FRSE) from Sargassum wightii and probiotic (Bacillus subtilis) on expression of TLR22 gene in Labeo rohita fingerlings. Two hundred and ten fingerlings of uniform size group were distributed into seven experimental groups in triplicates. Each tank was stocked with ten fish and fed to satiation with iso-nitrogenous (35.33-35.6 CP%) and iso-caloric (393.33 to 399.43 Kcal/100g) purified diets containing 0% FRSE and no probiotic (control), 2% FRSE (T1), 108 CFU g-1 probiotic (T2), 1% FRSE + 105 CFU g-1 probiotic (T3), 2% FRSE + 105 CFU g-1 probiotic (T4), 1% FRSE + 108 CFU g-1 probiotic (T5) and 2% FRSE + 108 CFU g-1 probiotic (T6). After feeding trial, the experimental fish were challenged with Aeromonas hydrophila. Expression of TLR22 gene was studied in the liver and recorded significantly higher in T6 group in pre-challenge condition whereas both T6 and T4 groups during post-challenge condition. Total leucocyte count were estimated and recorded significantly higher (p<0.05) in treatment groups compared to the control with highest values in T6 group whereas albumin/globulin (A/G) ratio exhibited decreasing trend in the treatment groups. These results suggested that addition of probiotic at 105 or 108 CFU g-1 dosage with 2% FRSE act synergistically and enhanced the non specific immunity of L. rohita fish effectively.
