A pot culture experiment was carried out under partially controlled glass house in Department of Agricultural Microbiology, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bangalore during the year 2016-17 to study the influence of Piriformospora indica and Glomus fasciculatum with Nitrogen fixer and Phosphorous solubilizer on growth and yield of finger millet in single and combined inoculations. The results of the experiment indicated that P. indica and G. fasciculatum in combination with Azospirillum brasilense and Bacillus megaterium increased the growth, yield and quality of finger millet significantly over the control. However, in pot experiment, among the tripartite inoculations the treatment combination of P. indica, A. brasilense and B. megaterium resulted in higher plant height, number of tillers, plant biomass, percent mycorrhizal root colonization and yield parameters like number of ear heads, test weight, grain and dry straw yield. Significant increase in N, P and K content was observed in grain as well as in straw receiving same treatment. Thus the increase in the growth, yield parameters and nutrient content of finger millet may be attributed to inoculation of P. indica which performed on par with G. fasciculatum proving it as an efficient biofertilizer for finger millet crop.
